The world ended…But the music survived.
On June 28th, Descent returns to the Red Room for a night of post-apocalyptic revelry, industrial rhythms, and enough dark fashion to make a wasteland warlord stop and ask where you got your boots.
As Vancouver’s longest-running uninterrupted goth night, Descent has weathered changing trends, shifting scenes, and enough cultural apocalypses to earn its place among the city’s nightlife legends. While civilizations may rise and fall, Descent endures—proving that dark music, good company, and a packed dance floor are remarkably resilient resources.
Welcome to Dust & Fire, a journey into a future where the cities have crumbled, the air crackles with static, and the dance floor remains humanity’s last great civilization. Somewhere beyond the red horizon, machines hum beneath the ruins, neon flickers through the smoke, and survivors gather beneath crimson lights to celebrate another night among the ashes.
For decades, Descent has brought together creatures of the night from every corner of Vancouver’s alternative community. Goths, rivetheads, cybergoths, darkwavers, industrial enthusiasts, curious newcomers, and everyone in between have found a home on the Descent dance floor. Whether you’re a veteran of countless dark dance nights or venturing into the wasteland for the first time, you’ll find a welcoming community waiting beyond the gates.
Soundtracking the evening will be Descent residents DJ Surreal, DJ Joshy Neurotic, and DJ MissBDeath, delivering a carefully crafted blend of goth, industrial, darkwave, EBM, synth, and cyber-infused beats designed to keep the survivors moving long after civilization has called it a night.
As always, Descent is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful space where people can express themselves freely. Come clad in leather, latex, tactical gear, cybernetic enhancements, scavenged relics, elegant black, or whatever version of your post-apocalyptic self emerges from the dust.
So fuel up your vehicle, calibrate your implants, paint your war markings, and follow the glow of the last beacon standing.
When the dust settles and the fires rise, we’ll be waiting in the Red Room.
In the wasteland, survival is optional but dancing is mandatory.
Event Code of Conduct
1. CONSENT MATTERS
Yes means yes. Always obtain explicit verbal consent before engaging in any physical or intimate activity. If someone doesn’t give a clear “yes,” then it’s a “no.” This applies to all conduct within the club including, but not limited to, physical touch, photographs, recording video, etc
2. SET CLEAR BOUNDARIES
Communicate your boundaries clearly to other attendees. Be clear. If you feel that setting boundaries will jeopardize your personal safety, please approach a Descent Staff Member
3. APPROACH DESCENT STAFF FOR SUPPORT
Approach any Descent Staff Member for support on any issues that are a cause for concern. For confidentiality, staff may not be able to disclose the outcomes to you. Trust that staff are following up. If you still feel it’s not being addressed, ask to speak to DJ Surreal.
3. HEED WARNINGS FROM STAFF
Reported inappropriate behaviour will results in warning from Descent or club staff. Staff will be monitoring for further infractions after a warning has been given. Failure to comply with requests or warnings from staff can result in being asked to leave the event.
4. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
Any form of discrimination, hate-speech, repeated harassment, assault, or non-consensual behavior is grounds for immediate removal from the event and potential further consequences. Please treat all attendees and staff with respect. Let’s keep this a fun place to be for everyone!
