Descent Pride Edition

Slip into your mesh, lace, leather, or whatever screams “you” the loudest. Descent is back, and this time we’re painting the night in every glorious shade of the goth rainbow. Join us on Sunday, July 20th at Vancouver’s darkly beloved Red Room for Descent: Pride Edition, a night where fierce beats meet fearless self-expression and the dancefloor becomes a sanctuary for the loud, the proud, and the decadently dressed.

From 9 PM to 1 AM, the soundscape will be conjured by resident spellcasters DJ Surreal, DJ Joshy Neurotic, DJ MissBDeath, and DJ Wraith, each spinning a fierce blend of gothic, industrial, EBM, and darkwave to keep your boots stomping and your eyeliner perfectly smeared. Whether you’re twirling in velvet or stomping in spikes, Descent welcomes you to be your most fabulous self. There’s no dress code, just a shared love of the dark aesthetic and the right to shine.

Descent isn’t just another night out. It’s a cornerstone of Vancouver’s gothic nightlife, a long-running gathering of misfits, romantics, creatures of the night, and dancefloor devotees. But for Pride Edition, we go a step further, celebrating the beautiful intersection of queerness and goth culture. We honor the stories of those who’ve found strength and solidarity under our lights, including community members who’ve said Descent helped them find the courage to come out. This is more than a party. It’s a celebration of identity, of chosen family, and of finding your place in the dark where you can truly be seen.

Advance tickets are just $10, or $15 at the door. Because being fabulous shouldn’t break the bank.

So dust off your PVC, fluff up your tulle, polish those platform boots, and bring your fiercest self to the floor. Whether you’re a long-time regular or a curious night creature looking for your people, Descent: Pride Edition is your invitation to celebrate queerness, community, and all things gorgeously goth.

Event Code of Conduct

1. CONSENT MATTERS

Yes means yes. Always obtain explicit verbal consent before engaging in any physical or intimate activity. If someone doesn’t give a clear “yes,” then it’s a “no.” This applies to all conduct within the club including, but not limited to, physical touch, photographs, recording video, etc

2. SET CLEAR BOUNDARIES

Communicate your boundaries clearly to other attendees. Be clear. If you feel that setting boundaries will jeopardize your personal safety, please approach a Descent Staff Member

3. APPROACH DESCENT STAFF FOR SUPPORT

Approach any Descent Staff Member for support on any issues that are a cause for concern. For confidentiality, staff may not be able to disclose the outcomes to you. Trust that staff are following up. If you still feel it’s not being addressed, ask to speak to DJ Surreal.

3. HEED WARNINGS FROM STAFF

Reported inappropriate behaviour will results in warning from Descent or club staff. Staff will be monitoring for further infractions after a warning has been given. Failure to comply with requests or warnings from staff can result in being asked to leave the event.

4. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

Any form of discrimination, hate-speech, repeated harassment, assault, or non-consensual behavior is grounds for immediate removal from the event and potential further consequences. Please treat all attendees and staff with respect. Let’s keep this a fun place to be for everyone!
