DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, August 24\, Descent celebrates 18 years of dark music\, dramatic fashion\, and\, most importantly\, the incredible community that has kept this night alive and thriving. From our very first gathering back in 2007 to our latest dance floor memories\, Descent has always been about connection and about a place where people can show up as their true\, creative\, spooky selves and feel right at home. \nThis anniversary isn’t just about the years behind us\, it’s about the people who have been with us along the way. Whether you’ve been stomping with us since the start or just recently discovered the magic\, you are part of what makes Descent so special. Vancouver’s goth scene has always had a strong heart\, and we’re beyond proud to be part of it. \nWe’re marking the occasion at our usual haunt\, The Red Room\, with a night of dancing\, music\, and celebration. DJs Surreal\, Joshy Neurotic\, DJ Wraith\, and MissBDeath will be spinning everything from goth to industrial to darkwave\, with that perfect Descent mix you know and love. Come dressed to express\, connect with old friends\, make some new ones\, and help us toast to a community that’s grown into something beautiful. \nTo thank you for being part of our journey\, we’ll be giving out a special piece of Descent memorabilia to the first 18 people through the door. It’s a little token of appreciation from us to you because this night\, and every night before it\, has only been possible because of your support. \nThere’s no over-the-top theme or gimmick this time. This one is about gratitude. About recognizing the strength and spirit that has carried us through 18 incredible years. About looking around the room and knowing we’ve built something together that’s worth celebrating. \nSo come join us on August 24. Come dance\, come be seen\, come feel the music and the moment. We wouldn’t be here without you\, and we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. \nEvent Code of Conduct\n1. CONSENT MATTERS \nYes means yes. Always obtain explicit verbal consent before engaging in any physical or intimate activity. If someone doesn’t give a clear “yes\,” then it’s a “no.” This applies to all conduct within the club including\, but not limited to\, physical touch\, photographs\, recording video\, etc \n2. SET CLEAR BOUNDARIES \nCommunicate your boundaries clearly to other attendees. Be clear. If you feel that setting boundaries will jeopardize your personal safety\, please approach a Descent Staff Member \n3. APPROACH DESCENT STAFF FOR SUPPORT \nApproach any Descent Staff Member for support on any issues that are a cause for concern. For confidentiality\, staff may not be able to disclose the outcomes to you. Trust that staff are following up. If you still feel it’s not being addressed\, ask to speak to DJ Surreal. \n3. HEED WARNINGS FROM STAFF \nReported inappropriate behaviour will results in warning from Descent or club staff. Staff will be monitoring for further infractions after a warning has been given. Failure to comply with requests or warnings from staff can result in being asked to leave the event. \n4. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY \nAny form of discrimination\, hate-speech\, repeated harassment\, assault\, or non-consensual behavior is grounds for immediate removal from the event and potential further consequences. Please treat all attendees and staff with respect. Let’s keep this a fun place to be for everyone!
