Burn in the Forest (BiTF) is the Greater Vancouver Interactive Arts Society’s (GVIAS) Official Burning Man Regional annual summer event. 1200 participants come together to create a Temporary Autonomous Zone inspired by the Ten Principles of Burning Man. This year’s event is being held at the Cheam Fishing Village in the Fraser Valley July 13-16.
We are excited to announce that the Descent crew has received a grant from GVIAS to produce a sound stage at this year’s event! A small team of dedicated volunteers are working with shoelaces, duct tape and a modest grant check to produce a full weekend of dance events. We’re going to have big sound, a cool light show, a fire pit and a chill area. Spinning the decks will be some of your favourite Descent DJs past and present as well as a few special guests. Unlike most techno and house music sound camps at BiTF, Descent will bring music with words! We’ll be featuring a New Wave night, an 80’s night and of course a Goth / Industrial night. We’re even going to play an afternoon of peace-inspiring Kirtan music.
We thought you’d never ask! There are 3 important ways you can help make the first ever BiTF Descent sound stage a huge success:
Wondering if you can get some requests in for our sound stage? Here’s the place to do it!
Visit the official BitF website for more information! Tickets for this year’s event are sold out, but there is an active secondary market so it’s totally not too late to come. If you’ve never been to a Burn event, be assured it is a transformative experience. Visit the BiTF Facebook Group.
Thank you to our incredible Descent family for helping to make this happen!
